Mixed Breed Short Run

I apologise for my lack of posts. RL has been turbulent of late. All is good now so hopefully I can blog with more regularity.
Cedric the transgender norn

Leading up to Christmas is always a busy time so I did a very short Wolfling Run. It only got to generation 4. I'm hoping to continue the run soon. Unfortunately I don't have a safe place to leave my lap top while it runs with my children around lol. But the holidays are here and I'm sure the grandparents will be more than happy to entertain them! Ha ha! :)

So this run began with four females and three males. Based on the gen 4 babies I think I used a City Norn, Transgender Norn, Chichi Norn, Bengal des Neiges (please excuse the probably bad spelling) and an Astro Norn. Oh and a Flora Norn. The transgender, bengal des neiges and chichi were female. The flora and city norns were male.

Dagino (baby gen 4)

The run started pretty much straight away. I didn't even teach them how to talk. I think one of them pressed the Holistic Learning Machine early on. I checked back after an hour or so and discovered that an agent kept glitching out. Then one of the norns kept glitching it out, I have no idea how. Something about genus 2 or something not being able to find genetics. I am completely baffled. The only solution was to nuke all the bengal des neiges headed male norns which seemed to be causing the glitch.

Thats part of why this run was so short, I thought the game had been running for hours only to discover it had paused because of the glitchy stuff. Ugh!

I checked back a while later and had to export all the old norns and pretty much all of the gen 2 and 3 norns because they bred like crazy. It was like egg-topia in there!

Dodo the "Right walker"

So now there are 18 norns in the world, almost all of them are babies.

Interestingly there are four norns that look identical. I always find that to be a good sign of genetics dominating in a Wolfling Run. All four are male and generation four. They have Chichi heads, legs and tails, their bodies and arms are city norn. Three of these walk normally and seem quite sensible, they get hungry and look for food and when tired they rest. There is one odd one out who has a walking problem.

Oooh I just discovered a female norn that has the same appearance as the four identical males. She seems to be smart enough. A tomato plant thingo from the norn garden dropped a heap of fruit and she promptly walked over to it and ate a fair bit. They all seem to enjoy gorging themselves then taking a nap. Norns after my own heart!

Dorthe, the female of the five identical babies.

I find it quite amusing that there is a female norn named Dodo who seems to have no higher drive that to keep walking right, even when she hits the wall. It's a shame because she is quite pretty.

There's a male norn named Cedric who has a transgender norn head. He is not very friendly. Every time he sees another norn he basically just slaps the heck out of it. I think Cedric and Dodo are wolfling run fails. Unless you like your norns to be violent, in which case he sounds great lol.

An interesting development is the ratio of males and females. Out of the 18 norns in the world only four are females. However I did a lot of exporting so I may have upset the natural balance. When I continue the run I will amend the male to female ratio. I don't think it's going to be viable the way it is. Or I might remove some males and let them go with a reduced population... We'll see.

There are three males that have reached adulthood out of the 18. They are all roughly 2 hours old.

I was going to do the usual tests to see if they were aquatic, can handle detritus etc but I'm going to wait until the final run. I will upload the five norns with the same genetics because they're cute and pretty self sufficient.

I may even upload the "fails" Cedric and Dodo because it's always interesting to see how badly things can go wrong.

One of the few adults at the time of this blog.

I will hopefully be able to have an update for you all by Saturday.

Until then my Creatures cohorts! ;)

PS. A baby norn just died of starvation. There seemed to be food around but... Well that's natural selection for you :(

Crossbreed Carry On

I decided tokeep going with some of the creatures from my initial run.

The resutls were... interesting.

I started with four ettins, two male and two female, four norns, again two male and two female. I also had two banshee grendels who I left unnamed. Below are their names for reference sake. I added in Pinno and Katia at soem point as well. I noticed I still have Pinno in my exports so I must have let him out briefly to have babies and then put him back.

Here are the intial stats:
Run started at 3:19pm with youngest creature at child stage. Population limit 30, breeding limit 26.
World populated with toys, plants and a few vending machines. Tropics and the Norngarden installed.

Ettins; Poppy f, Merri f, Rolo m, Freddie m.
Grendels: unnamed male and female
Norns: Dietlinde f, Eveline f, Dewald m, Etzelm.
.

Corka
Frieda

At 4:39pm I decided to get a bit crazy with the harp. About four creatures got pregnant . At least one of those matings was crossbred. Hopefully it will shake things up a bit

I checked in at 6:27pm in time to see Katia die. Another norn was complaining of being seriously ill.

Checked again at 8:05pm to see what was going on. Merri has had two children,  both with a male ettin called Freddo. Not to be confused with Freddie who has long since died. The original grendel Bilga died and has been replaced with Cramitt.

As I scrolled through my creatures I was delighted to find that Rolo had a baby, to a norn.  Dietlinde is the mother.  So far the trend is towards Indio headed creatures and ones with boney grendel backs. Looks like Katia and Pinno have left their mark on this run.

I’m going to let this go on through the night. I might check back in an hour to see how they’re going. Most likely I’ll end up killing off a few creatures to encourage more breeding. I don’t want to set the population limit too high, lag is a real poop-head on my laptop.

It’s 7:47am and I’m about to find out whats become of the wolfling run. I really hope that there are some creatures to find. A couple of times I’ve let wolfling runs go for 24 hours and when I’ve checked in the world was completely empty...

Hyobe

Good news! The world wasn’t completely empty! The bad news... the game is so laggy I’m going to have to export all the creatures and remove some agents etc. I’ll import them again one at a time and see what I can find out about them.

Corka (female ettin), Frieda (female norn), Hidetada (male norn), Hilger (male norn), Hyobe (male norn), Eisen (male norn - He died just as I was about to export him), Fuzzy (male norn). Those are the survivors. And a couple of grendels but they’re unnamed which means that the banshee stone spawned them so they don't count lol.

So Hilger is starving for Starch but flat out won’t eat seeds. He’s part Indio, part Banshee grendel and part something else. Possibly Nenya norn. He seems to be attracted to gadgets and has some serious grendel-like anger issues. He can’t breathe under water or eat detritus.

Hilger

Corka is a strange one. She can breathe underwater and rarely has any high needs. I’ve put her into my ddna bank for later. I think her offspring will be succeses! She likes to run around like she's terrified all the time, despite not actually being afraid.

Fuzzy was a surprise. Turns out not only can he breathe underwater but so far he can eat detritus with no ills effects. Still starving for Starch.  I’ve even tried putting him near a light source but no luck.

Fuzzy

Hyobe can breathe underwater with no worries too.  He has a gait malfunction.  Hyobe cannot handle detritus, I almost killed him via glycotoxin. Poor thing lol.
Hidetada can eat detritus and breathe underwater. He has hunger for startch all the time and the same goes for tiredness.

Hidetada can breathe underwater and eat detritus with no apparent side effects. He has the same craving for Starch but no matter how much he eats it makes no difference.

Hidetada

Hopefully I can figure out how to add some creatures for download. Next post I'll owe you all two batches from the Wolfling Runs!

Crossbreeding Run

Okay Creatures Fans I said a long time ago that I would do a weekly wolfling run of various themes etc. I can't promise it weekly, but I will do my best to do it at least once a fortnight.

As I'm typing this the first wolfling run is under way. It's a crossbreeding experiment. Thanks to the wonderful script by Amaikokonut (here's the link) grendels, ettins and norns are able to crossbreed. However their genetics makes crossbreeding extremely unlikely...

Enter the splices! The norns, ettins and grendels in this particular run have been created using the Super Splicer by Papriko (you can find it at Creatures Caves). So you can guarantee that they're going to be messed up sexually!

The idea is this: mess up their gentic coding with ettin-grendel-norn splices and then let them run free and see what happens. I have no idea if there will be any one alive by the end of their natural lifespan so this should be interesting.

The survivng original particpants at 2 hours are as follows:

Afra. Female Ettin, 2 Hours 22 Minutes old, Adult. No offspring. She has a yettin head, chichi arms, treehugger legs and an unidentified body (some shiny norn breed type).

Jazzy. Male Ettin. 2 Hours 26 Minutes old. Adult. No offspring. He has a maraquan grendel head and tail, mask ettin arms and legs and possibly a bubble norn body. It's some kind of blue norn breed I'm sure.

Purr. Female Grendel. 2 Hours 34 Minutes old. Adult. One child. Offspring is a Male Grendel. Father of offpsring is a Male Grendel. She has a Banshee Grendel Head and legs, Zebra everything else.

Katia. Female Norn. 2 Hours 30 Minutes old. Adult. Three Offspring. Two Female, One Male, all norns. Father is Pinno to all three offspring. She has an Estrella norn head, some kind gold coloured grendel body and unknown arms and legs (possibly Estrella).

Sinkii. Female Norn. 2 Hours 55 Minutes old. Adult. No offspring. Apple norn head and body, fire norn arms. legs and tail.

Brill. Female Norn. 3 Hours 3 Minutes old. Adult. One offspring, female norn. Father is Pinno (a male norn). She has a banshee grendel head and arms, astro norn body, legs and tail.

Pinno. Male Norn. 2 Hours 58 Minutes old. Adult. Five Offspring. Three Females, One Male. All norns. He has an Indigo norn head and arms, a yellowstone norn body and sahara norn legs and tail.

Population after two hours is 16 total. 9 Females, 7 Males.

So far there seems to be no crossbreeding. I'm not giving up! The children of this wolfling run are about to be spliced up with some grendels, ettins and norns (probably gen 1's laid from muco but we'll see what I can find!).

I'm new to this whole blogging thing so please bear with me while I try and work out how to put up the creatures I was talking about above. Worst case scenario I will post them on Creatures Caves.

Leave a comment, make a request or just say hi! Any feedback is welcome.

I hope to have another post up soon once I get some more splices and let them run free for a couple of hours.

Until next time
